Refund & Cancellation Policy
How refunds, cancellations, transfers, and deferrals work at BFL School.
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how BFL School (“Brian Foreign Language School,” “BFL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles cancellations, refunds, transfers, and deferrals for our English and Chinese language courses. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions. We aim to be fair and transparent, and we encourage you to talk to us early if your circumstances change.

1. Scope
This policy applies to tuition fees paid for courses at BFL School. Tuition is charged on a per-term (semester) basis. All refund requests are assessed against the date we receive your written request and the start date of your term. Where local consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights than this policy, those rights apply.
2. Cancelling before a course begins
If you need to cancel before your term starts:
- 7 or more days before the start date: a full refund of tuition, less any non-refundable registration fee (see Section 5).
- Less than 7 days before the start date: a refund of 50% of tuition, less any non-refundable registration fee. Alternatively, you may transfer the full amount to a later term.
3. Withdrawing after a course begins
Once a term has started, the value of classes already delivered cannot be refunded. Subject to Section 6:
- Within the first week of the term (up to the first two sessions): a refund of 50% of the tuition, or a transfer of the remaining value to a later term.
- After the first week: tuition is generally non-refundable. At our discretion, we may credit part of the remaining value toward a future term in genuine cases of hardship.
4. Missed classes & no-shows
Classes that you miss, arrive late for, or do not attend are not refundable and are not automatically transferable. Where possible, we may help you catch up through materials or guidance, but we cannot guarantee make-up sessions for individually missed classes.
5. Non-refundable items
The following are non-refundable, except where required by law or where a class is cancelled by us (Section 8):
- Registration or administrative fees;
- Books, learning materials, and resources already issued to you;
- External examination or certificate fees paid to third parties;
- Any discounts, scholarships, or promotional credits, which have no cash value.
6. Medical & exceptional cases
We understand that serious illness, injury, or other significant events can prevent you from continuing. In such cases, please contact us as early as possible with supporting documentation. Where appropriate, we may offer a deferral, a credit toward a future term, or a partial refund, assessed fairly on a case-by-case basis.
7. Transfers & deferrals
Instead of a refund, you may ask to transfer your enrollment to a later term or, in some cases, to another student. Transfers are subject to availability and must usually be requested before or early in the term. A transferred or deferred enrollment should normally be used within a reasonable period (for example, the next available term), after which it may expire.
8. If BFL changes or cancels a class
If we cancel a course, or make a significant change that you cannot accommodate — for example, cancelling a class due to insufficient enrollment — you may choose one of the following:
- A transfer to a suitable alternative class or term at no extra cost;
- A credit toward a future course; or
- A full refund of the tuition paid for the affected portion of the course.
9. How to request a refund
To request a refund, transfer, or deferral, please contact us in writing (by email or Telegram) using the details below, and include:
- The student’s full name and the course or term enrolled in;
- The date and method of your original payment;
- The reason for your request, with any supporting documents where relevant.
We will acknowledge your request and let you know the outcome and any amount due.
10. How refunds are processed
Approved refunds are normally made to the original payment method or bank account where practical. Refunds are typically processed within 14 business days of approval, though bank processing times may vary. Any bank or transfer charges incurred may be deducted from the refunded amount where permitted.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. The policy in effect at the time of your enrollment applies to that enrollment.
